Siklish Trek
is a spectacular short trek and traverses a variety of terrain from low land
villages and rice terraces up to 3000m. The combination of forest, traditional
villages and superb mountain panoramas make this trek unforgettable. Rough and
wild, this trek cuts through less travelled country south of Annapurna II and
Lamjung Himal massif. The Siklish village which is one of the largest Gurung
village has been established by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project as a
model trekking village and is an internal part of their eco route, situated at
about 2000m in the shadow of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Above the village
is Rishing Danda (2352m) from where a wonderful panoramic view of the peaks of
Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal can be seen. We can see lots of Rhododendron
flowers, Orchids and many other flowers in the spring and also many birds
including Vultures in this area.

Itinerary
Day
1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350m)
Our
representative will meet you outside the customs and immigration area at the
airport. He or She will brief you on the immediate arrangements and escort you
to your hotel. The trip leader will hold a short briefing in the hotel
regarding trek arrangements and general orientation to Kathmandu.
Day 2:
Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley
Today,
we visit the most historical and Spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are
also listed in world heritage sites. We visit Durbar Square, Swayambhunath
(Monkey temple), Bouddhanath, which is one of the largest Stupa in the world
and the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath.
Day 3: Fly
to Pokhara (823m / 30 min)
After
breakfast, we transfer you to airport to board flight for Pokhara. It is 30
minutes very exiting flight. During the flight you will get opportunity to see
many mountains. Upon arrival at Pokhara airport our guide will pick up you and
transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon our guide will take you around
Lakeside and other popular places of Pokhara.
Day 4: Drive
to Chaur (1 hr 30 min), trek to Gale Kharka (1600m / 4-5 hrs)
From
Pokhara, we drive through centre of the Pokhara town, Lama Chaur, small
villages and rice fields to Chaur. There is Annapurna conservation Area Project
office before Chaur where we should show our permit and entry. We get very nice
views of many snowy peaks, green rolling hills and beautiful villages during
our drive. There are about 15-20 houses with some local shops in Chaur. Leaving
Chaur, we walk through middle of the village and descend down Sardi khola.
Beyond school, cross Sardi khola by small wooden bridge. After few minutes, we
join with small main path and turned to the left side. We walk along the water
channel to long suspension bridge. There are chirping many little birds and can
see wild bee hives in the rocky cliff. Below the bridge, there is a small dam
for irrigation. We climb up for a while, cross Sardi khola by very long steel
suspension bridge. After this bridge, walk through rice fields for 10-15
minutes and then follow river bank. We cross Sardi khola by log bridges several
times. There is a very nice green ground near by the river before start climb
up to Gale Gaon. After about 40 minutes steep climb from this
ground, we arrive in lower Gale Gaon. This is beautiful village, more than 75%
people are belonging to the Tamang tribe in this village. Here are growing lots
of sugar cane, vegetables, rice and millet. The local people are very polite
and they like to enjoy with tourists. From the middle of the village, climb
steep up again. About another 20-25 minutes later, we arrive in upper Gale
Gaon. There is beautiful camping ground above the village (20-25 minutes) on
the top of the small ridge line. We have wonderful views of Machhapuchhre,
Annapurna south, Hiuchuli and several villages from camp.
Day
5: Trek to Neuli Kharka (2100m / 5 hrs) or Parche)
Leaving
Gale Kharka, we climb steeply up through dense forest. Although it is steep climb,
we can enjoy very much. There are singing many different birds and can see lots
of wild flowers along the way. In the spring the forest is very colorful, we
can see lots of different Rhododendron flowers in this jungle. After little bit
more than 1 hour walk from Gale Kharka camping ground, we arrive in small open
place, there are some very old huts for water buffalo. We have nice view of
Machhapuchhre from here. After about 1 and half hour walk from open place, we
arrive at the end part of the steep climb and then walk along the ridge line
for a while. There is a rest place (Chautara) on the top. From this rest place,
we follow ridge for 5 minutes and descend down. There is a sign to go Neuli
Kharka and Tara hill. Along the ridge line leads to Tara hill and right side
down leads to Neuli Kharka. At the bottom there are also 2 different trails, we
follow left (not straight down) hand side trail. The path is very clear and
descends gradually through dense forest. This is the mixed forest of pine,
Rhododendrons, Oak and others. Here are growing lots of bamboo groves. It is
very easy 1 hr 20-30 min walk to Neuli Kharka from the ridge. Neuli Kharka is
surrounded by thick forest. This is a meadow, here is a very simple hut with 2
rooms. One is for kitchen and another is for porters. It has huge compound
around camping ground. There are not any hotels or lodge. The water is little
far from camp.
Day
6: Trek to Parche (2050m / 3 and half – 4 hrs)
From
Neuli Kharka, we gradually descend through dense forest. There are small ups
and downs on the way. After 1 hr we arrive in small open meadow, here are some
big boulders and grassy ground. From here the vegetation start to change and
the trees are becoming small. About 1 hr 20-30 minute walk from open place, we
reach in small hut and a rest place. Leaving this place, descend down to the
little deep place and follow the lower path. This path joins directly to the
camping ground. It has very nice and huge green ground at the top of Parche
village. Here is football ground too. This ground is enough for many groups.
Here are several kitchen rooms, water tap near by the kitchen and cultural show
place. Here are comes many young women from Parche village to sell drinks and
souvenir things. From here, we have very nice views of Lamjung Himal, Siklish and
Tangting village. Parche village (1900m) is just 10–15 minutes down below the
camp and Siklish is about 20-25 min walk from this ground.
Day
7: Rest day / hike to view point (Rishing Danda - 2352m / 2 hrs 30
min - 3 hrs)
After
breakfast, we hike to the view point (Rishing Danda). We gradually ascend and
then join with main path above Siklish village (2000m / 35-40 min). We can see
many water buffalos around here in the huge slope green ground. From here, we
steeply climb up and pass several memorial rest places and water taps and
finally arrive in Rishing Danda, a view point. It is on the top of the ridge,
here is a rest place in Rishing Danda. The Lamjung Himal (6983m), Annapurna-IV
(7525m), II (7937m) is standing just in the front. There is also very old Tiger
trap; it was used by local people to kill Tiger in the ancient time. After
visit around and enjoy with Mountain views, we come back down to the camp for
hot lunch. Or we can visit Siklish village and come back to camp for late
lunch. In Siklish, there is main ACAP office of this area. Siklish is much
bigger than Parche village. In the afternoon, we enjoy visiting around and play
in the ground. In the evening, we can see cultural program of Gurung people.
They perform their dance with traditional dress. Many young women, men and
children come together for this program.
Day
8: Trek to Sabi (950m / 5 – 6 hrs)
From
Parche camp, we descend down to the village and walk through middle of the
village. After village, the path steeply descends down to the bottom, valley
floor. The village has connected with a small new road but we don't follow it.
There are more than 3000 stone steps, several nice rest places and water taps
on the way. It is very nice views of many villages, rice terraces, rolling
green hills and Modi khola valley. There is one long suspension bridge and
small market at the bottom. This place is called Siklish Phedi or Maitali. We
gradually descend down to the Modi river bank and then follow it for 20-25
minutes and arrive in Sonda. There are several shops, local hotels and a
beautiful rest place under Pipal tree. Few min later, we cross small stream by
suspension bridge, continue towards Modi khola bank again. We walk along the
valley floor and follow the river. In several places, we get little higher from
the river. There are lots of honey bees in the cliff before Sabi. We can see it
from very close. From here it is very easy and short walk to the camping ground
of Sabi. We cross small stream by very old bridge in Sabi. Sabi is small nice
place. Here are some local hotels, camping ground and ACAP office. Here is a
small rough road. From here we can see Lamjung Himal clearly.
Day
9: Trek to Kalikasthan / Thulokot (6 hrs)
Leaving
Sabi, we walk along the small rough road. About 25 min later, we arrive in
Lamakhet. Here are some local tea shops and daily bus service to Pokhara. We
can see beautiful views of Lamajung Himal, Annapurna IV and II from here. The
direct old path to Chitre is damaged and washed away by the river, so we follow
the road for 30-40 minutes and then descend down to Chitre. We walk through
rice field and the forest for 25-30 min and arrive in Chitre. There is very
nice rest place under Pipal and Banyan tree in Chitre. From here, it is very
easy walk along the rough road and through beautiful villages. Here are growing
lots of rice and fruits including coffee plants in this area. About 1 hr later,
we reach in Bhaise, here are some shops and local tea shops. This place is
famous for Orange. This village has connected by small rough road and has daily
bus service from Pokhara. After 10 min we steeply climb through beautiful
forest of Oak and Rhododendron to Kafle Danda. We can see many nice Orchids,
birds and hear very good sounds of these birds. The road is goes up by making
long switch backs. It offers good views of mountains and many green rolling
hills. From here, we leave the road and gently climb through the ridge line. We
pass several beautiful villages and arrive in Thulokot. Thulokot is the best
place of this trekking route. It is on the top of the ridge. From here, we can
see all Annapurna ranges, top of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu range and whole Pokhara
valley. We can see also very nice Sun rise and set view from here. Here is nice
green ground with kitchen room for camping but water is very far. There are
also home stay available but very simple.
Day
10: Drive to Pokhara (20 min walk / 1 hr 30 min drive)
From
Thulokot, we descend down to Kalikasthan market and drive to Pokhara. Here is
black topped road to Pokhara. We will drive through beautiful villages to
Pokhara. In the afternoon we relax or visit around the market.
Day 11:
Sightseeing around Pokhara
Today,
we drive to Sarangkot early in the morning to see Sun rise view. It is about
40-50 minutes drive. This is the best view point to see all Annapurna range,
tip of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and can see whole Pokhara valley and Fewa Lake. We
come back to hotel for breakfast. After breakfast we visit World peace Stupa.
We can drive near Stupa when we go up. It is very nice views of Annapurna
range, Manaslu, Pokhara valley and several green rolling hills also from here.
After visit this place we walk through Ranivan forest along the ridge line. It is
very nice and enjoyable walk. We can see many birds and flowers in this forest.
It will take about 1 hr to come down. We arrive in Dam side and walk
down to Davi’s fall, Tibetan refugee camp and Siddha cave. After then we back
to lake side for lunch and visit International Museum and lake side area in the
afternoon.
Day 12: Fly
back to Kathmandu
We
fly back to Kathmandu airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon we visit
around Thamel market for shopping and have farewell dinner at traditional Nepali
restaurant with pure Nepali cultural program.
Day 13: Departure from Nepal
We will transfer you in international airport for your international flight.
